Ada Information New Students
A student must register with Student Accessibility Services (SAS) to receive accommodations in accordance with either the ADA laws or Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act. To arrange for services and receive accommodations, a student must:
- Complete the online Petition for Accommodations in the AIM System.
- Schedule an appointment with the SAS Office by calling505-287-6628 or emailing ppc@nmsu.edu
- Provide appropriate documentation of a diagnosis of a disability. Examples of licensed practitioners that can supply appropriate documentation of disability include:
- Educational Diagnostician –Can diagnose Learning Disabilities
- Psychologist/Psychiatrist –Can diagnose Learning Disabilities, ADD/ADHD, Psychological
- Audiologist, Otolaryngologist –Can diagnose Hearing loss and deafness
- Physician –Can diagnose Physical or other health impairment, ADD/ADHD

Each semester/session, follow the procedure indicated below:
- Contact the SAS office to fill out Accommodations Letters.
- SAS office will send the Accommodation Letter to the instructor electronically.
- Contact your instructor during the First Week of classes to verify if the Accommodation letter was received and if the instructor needs any further clarification of your needs.
