Pre-Nursing/Nursing Program

PRE-NURSING GUIDELINES

NMSU Grants

*******************

REV. 04.21.15

STUDENTS CAN EXPECT AT LEAST TWO (2) to THREE YEARS OF PRE-REQUISITE COURSE WORK at NMSU Grants BEFORE APPLYING TO THE SCHOOL OF NURSING. This BSN is through Las Cruces, however students complete their coursework through ITV, online work, and local clinicals.

EIGHT (8) STUDENTS ARE ACCEPTED BASED ON THEIR GPA, AND 2 ALTERNATES. STUDENTS BEGIN THE NURSING PROGRAM IN THE FALL TERM (This may change; stay tuned.) Once admitted into the Cohort, it is a five semester program. THE MINIMUM GPA FOR ELIGIBILITY IS 2.75 –

THIS IS ON THE PRE-REQUISITES ONLY, NOT YOUR CUM GPA. (A 3.5 GPA greatly improves your chances of being accepted.)

Because the Nursing program is very competitive, it is suggested that students have an alternate plan in mind.

TO ENSURE ACADEMIC SUCCESS, PRE-NURSING STUDENTS SHOULD CHECK IN WITH THEIR ADVISORS EACH TERM. STUDENTS ARE ALSO EXPECTED TO UPDATE ANY CHANGES IN ADDRESS, PHONE, EMAIL, Etc.

It is the student’s responsibility to know their degree plan, be aware of the NMSU registration schedule and

enroll in classes on their designated date.

PLEASE NOTE: THE SCHOOL OF NURSING AT NMSU

LAS CRUCES MAY CHANGE THEIR PRE-REQUISITES/sequence AT ANY TIME!
