No Ceremony will be conducted in May this year, it has been delayed with a date tentatively set for December 2020
2019 – 2020 Commencement
For the safety and health of our graduates and their families, NMSU Grants is postponing the May 2020 graduation ceremony. The NMSU Grants Leadership is planning a ceremony, with a possible date in December 2020, in the Fidel Activity Center on our campus. We will host a special graduation page on our website honoring all who earned or will earn a certificate or a degree in the Fall of 2019 May 2020 and August 2020. More information on both celebrations will be forthcoming from our Campus President, Dr. Mickey D. Best, email@example.com, the Vice President of Student Services, Patrick Clingman, firstname.lastname@example.org and/or Ms. Nicole Kormick, email@example.com. This information will be sent to you via NMSU email and text messages.
NMSU Grants holds Commencement annually, typically the second Friday of May, at 6:00 PM, in the Fidel Activity Center on campus. We celebrate Fall, Spring, and Summer graduates. Students apply for their degrees online at my.nmsu.edu; see the Schedule of Classes for deadlines. Certificate applications are in Student Services.
This is a time to acknowledge the success of our students and where they have excelled.
- Outstanding Students – Program Managers select one or more outstanding students for the year; this is generally based upon academic standing and other skills or character they have observed in students.
- NMSU Alumni Awards – the Alumni Office sponsors this award and three graduates are selected locally. The categories are: Associate of Arts programs, Associate of Science programs, and the Associate of Applied Science programs. This award focuses on scholarship, leadership, and citizenships.
- Grants Grit Award – this award began in 2015; Student Services selects students who have exhibited ” grit “ – perseverance in overcoming obstacles – to complete an Associate degree in two years. It is our goal to assist students with timely degree completion, allowing students to transfer for a Bachelors degree or enter the career field of their choice.
- USA All American Academic Team – this award is for students who are nominated by faculty or staff, who are eligible for PTK with a GPA of 3.5 or higher. A lengthy application process and a plan to complete a Bachelor’s degree at one of the NM state colleges makes this a very prestigious scholarship.
