Commencement 2023



Congratulations Class of 2023!

On behalf of the faculty staff and administration of New Mexico State University Grants. We would like to extend our sincere congratulations to you. On your candidacy for completion of your chosen program of study.  We would like to commemorate this special occasion and celebrate your academic achievement. At the commencement exercises planned for Friday, May 12, 2023, at 6:00 p.m.  The ceremony will be held at the Joseph Fidel Activities Center. Caps and gowns are available for rental at no cost. At the Student Services Office in Martinez Hall starting on April 1th. Contact the Student Services Office at 505-287-6678 if you have any questions. If you are interested in purchasing additional graduation material. We have set up a Virtual Grad Fair for you at this web address  herff.ly/nmsu . Invitations and tickets are not required for guests. A graduation rehearsal is scheduled for Friday, May 12 th at 10:00 a.m. at the Fidel gym.  All who plan to participate in the ceremony should plan to attend the rehearsal.  Finally, degrees and certificates will not be officially awarded. Until New Mexico State University has certified all such awards after the end of the Spring Semester.  Please be advised that further advisement may be necessary for degree or certificate completion. We look forward to this important event and hope you, your relatives and friends will attend this commencement event.
Student Awards & Recognitions

This is a time to acknowledge the success of our students and where they have excelled.

  • Outstanding Students - Program Managers select one or more outstanding students for the year. This is generally based upon academic standing and other skills or character they have observed in students.
  • NMSU Alumni Awards - the Alumni Office sponsors this award and three graduates are selected locally. The categories are: Associate of Arts programs, Associate of Science programs, and the Associate of Applied Science programs.  This award focuses on scholarship, leadership, and citizenships.
  • Grants Grit Award - this award began in 2015. Student Services selects students who have exhibited " grit " - perseverance in overcoming obstacles. To complete an Associate degree in two years.  It is our goal to assist students with timely degree completion. Allowing students to transfer for a Bachelors degree or enter the career field of their choice.
  • USA All American Academic Team - this award is for students who are nominated by faculty or staff. Who are eligible for PTK with a GPA of 3.5 or higher. A lengthy application process and a plan to complete a Bachelor's degree at one of the NM state colleges. Makes this a very prestigious scholarship.
