Description/Mission:
Robert's Place, Inc. is committed to working for personal, community and social change to eliminate Domestic Violence in the lives of women, children and families. Roberta's Place, Inc. will achieve this through the following goals:
A) To provide shelter, counseling, and support services for victims of domestic violence and their children.
B) To provide non-residential counseling for women.
C) To empower battered women and children to advocate for themselves.
D) To advocate for changes supportive of domestic violence victims in our legislative, judicial and bureaucratic systems.
E) To provide education and training of professionals.

Student Service Learning Opportunities:
Service Learners will have the opportunity to provide client support activities, while handling the day to day operations of the shelter. For this pilot semester, Sally is looking primarily for help with reception/front desk work. This semester, Service Learners would get an inside look at how group sessions are facilitated at the shelter, as well as an opportunity to interact with clients at the shelter through their intake processes. In the future, Service Learners may be trained as peer counselors or victim advocates.

Will be worked out with Service Learner.

Must sign confidentiality statement/agreement

Additional Comments/Concerns:
Service Learner must not have been in a domestic violence relationship in the past year.

Number of Service Learning Students Needed: 1-2 to begin with
Hours of Operation When Students are Needed: 8am-5pm, M-F
Minimum Hour Commitment Required: Negotiable
