Description/Mission:
Future Foundations works together for a safer, healthier, more skilled Cibola County. We provide Youth and Family Services.

Student Service Learning Opportunities:

  • After school programming, including tutoring (works in part with Literacy Volunteers to provide the tutoring)
  • Community Calendar Project (includes collecting information about what is going on in the community, computer skills, graphic art)
  • Special Events/Projects: (hour commitments vary- would be helping to prepare events/projects)
    1. Halloween Carnival and Haunted House (w/ Youth Council)
    2. Junior Miss- statewide program
    3. Obesity Prevention Project (includes healthy food demonstrations to high school students during lunch hours in Oct. and Nov.)
    4. Teen Violence Prevention/Juvenile issues
    5. Youth Summit in November to address behavioral health
    6. Media Literacy Project
    7. Teen pregnancy prevention
  • Teen workforce training (helping youths develop interview skills, resumes, etc)
  • Youth leadership development (Assist Youth Council, comprised of mid- and high-schoolers, with assorted projects, some of which are listed above)
  • Orientation/Training Schedule:
    Varies, depending on placement and program. Generally, Service Learners are set up with a staff member to mentor them through a project.
