Natural Sciences Program
The Natural Sciences program at NMSU-Grants offers a fairly extensive array of lower-division lab-science courses designed to meet transfer degree and prerequisite requirements for a variety of educational and career goals. For example, students at NMSU-Grants commonly enroll in science courses to meet degree requirements in Education and to complete prerequisites for career programs in the Allied Health Sciences (such as Nursing). Introductory courses are offered in Astronomy, Biology, Chemistry, Geography, Geology, and Physics. In addition, the program offers General Chemistry and sophomore-level courses in Anatomy & Physiology, Cellular & Organismal Biology, Microbiology, Geography, and Geology.
The Natural Sciences program is continually adapting to meet the post-secondary educational needs of Cibola County residents. Since 1999 enrollment in science courses has nearly doubled. Recently an Associate of Science degree was added to the program. This degree is very flexible and well suited for students interested in pursuing a four-year degree in one of the natural sciences (such as Biology) or a related field (such as Nursing or Agriculture).
For more information about the program, prospective students are invited to contact Professor Carlson or a student advisor.
