Graduation

The Programs in Adult Basic Education (ABE) at NMSU Grants offer the following services.

Placement Testing - Test for Adult Basic Education (TABE)

TABE
The TABE is used to check skills in math, reading and language.

Classroom instruction

Pre-GED (General Education Development)
Classes for student who need help in improving basic skills in reading, writing and math.

GED Tests Preparation
Classes for students who need to review and improve their skills in reading, writing and math, so that they can pass the GED test.

English as a Second Language (ESL)
Classes for students whose first language is not English to improve their communication skills in English.

PLATO LEARNING SYSTEM ONLINE LAB FASTRACK
Students will have the opportunity to build their skill in writing, math and reading using the online lab in FASTRACK.

ASSIGNED TUTORIAL

INDIVIDUAL AND GROUP TUTORING
Assigned individual tutoring is for students who may want more individual help with writing, math and reading. Assigned group tutoring is for students who want specific instructions in a given area in writing, math or reading. ABE students' goals:
. preparing for the GED tests to earn a New Mexico High School Diploma,
. improving their communication skills in English,
. seeking employment or higher wage jobs,
. preparing for post-secondary education, and/or
. personal improvement.
